Check out this insider’s guide of 15 fun things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca if you are visiting this beautiful Balearic Island on holiday.

Port de Soller is located on the northern side of Mallorca through the Soller tunnel. It’s a bustling port and resort rolled into one and it’s a wonderful place to visit whatever time of the year because of its residential population and fantastic community.

You will always find Port de Soller full of life as visitors flock to the area to enjoy the wonderful beaches, boat cruises, cycling and some of the best hiking in Europe.

Many visit Port de Soller as part of a day trip when visiting Soller town. I would recommend booking a holiday in Port de Soller itself and enjoying a longer stay. To find accommodation, check out hotels here and find package holidays here.

1. Port de Soller Tram | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

You absolutely cannot visit Port de Soller without arriving on the San Fransisco-style tram from Soller town which is one of the island’s most historic tourist attractions.

The wooden tram was originally used to transport residents to and from Soller and it’s been in place since 1913.

I really recommend taking the tram as it winds its way through the Soller Valley down to the Port. The views are incredible as it follows a route through orange and lemon orchards town to the sea.

It’s also absolutely worth taking to avoid parking a car in Port de Soller since car parking isn’t particularly easy.

The cost of taking the Tram is 8€ one way in 2023 but it’s a journey worth making. You can buy your tickets directly from the tram station in Soller town.

2. Visit Port de Soller Beaches | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

In my opinion, Port de Soller beaches are the best port beaches in Mallorca which means that if you go sightseeing in the area during the Spring to Autumn months, you can enjoy a refreshing swim to cool off before making your way back to your resort.

If you are staying in Port de Soller, then you have some fantastic beaches to choose from. The Port de Soller beaches run the entire length of the Port de Soller promenade.

The first beach you will see as you arrive by tram into the Port is the main beach. The shallow waters from the port lap the golden sands. There are beach umbrellas and sunbeds to rent if you want to enjoy the beach for the day.

You will also find shops, restaurants, bars and cafés running along this promenade all the way down towards the other main beach, Repic Beach.

The further you walk towards Repic Beach, you will notice the sand turns a little rockier, but this is a great way to escape the crowds.

Repic Beach is another wonderful golden sandy stretch with a beach restaurant, and other restaurants lining the promenade.

There are also quite a few hotels lining the promenade in Repic Beach including the Hotel Marina which you can find out more about here, and the Pure Salt Port de Soller hotel here.

3. Port de Soller Island Tour | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

There are so many great boat trips from Port the Soller which allow you to explore the spectacular north coast of Mallorca.

Check out Mallorca: Island Tour with Boat & Train Ride which takes you on the bus, train, tram and on a boat excursion along the north coast, and even up to Lluc Monestry.

This is one of the best value excursions in Mallorca and if you’re not staying in Port de Soller itself there are two ways to book.

You can book the exclusion to include hotel pick-up from your hotel on the south or southwest of the island here.

And you can book also to include pick up from the north and east coast of the island here.

4. Boat Trip to Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

If you’re just looking for a much more economical boat trip, then for 32€ you can book this incredible trip to the spectacular Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis.

The trip includes plenty of time to explore the area and swim in the sea and from the beaches. This is another must-do trip from Port de Soller.

You can book it here.

New for 2023 is a speedboat trip to the lesser-known or visited Sa Coster Bay.

With two swimming and snorkelling stops, you can enjoy seeing the caves, ravines, waterfalls and dramatic cliffs.

You can book the trip here.

6. Also NEW FOR 2O23: Snorkelling at Sa Foradada | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

If you prefer your tours small and personal, then beat the crowds and jump aboard the speedboat which will take no more than 12 passengers and explore the north of the island.

Heading to Sa Foradada, you will have the opportunity to snorkel in the crystal clear seas.

You’ll also be taken to see one of the most exclusive and inaccessible areas of the island around s’Estaca (where Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have their home), and around Cala Deia.

The boat trip will then take you along to Llucalcari for another swim.

The meeting point for this trip is outside the Hotel Miramar. You can book this trip here.

7. Road Cycling in Port de Soller | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

You will see cyclists year-round throughout Port de Soller and the hot temperatures in the Summer are no exception.

You will see various road bike shops along the port to rent equipment which also offers repairs and servicing.

But it’s not just road biking you can do in and around Port de Soller. Mountain bikes are also available to rent in the cycle shops in the Port. Just ask the staff for recommended routes to visit.

8. Eating ice cream in Port de Soller | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

You absolutely cannot visit Port de Soller at whatever time of year without tasting the amazing ice cream. In fact, this is one of my favourite things to do visiting Port de Soller.

There are a few artisan brands in the Soller Valley including Fet de Soller (Made in Soller). I really recommend trying the orange ice cream, which is packed full of orange goodness as well as the locally grown tangy lemon flavour ice cream.

One scoop for 2023 is around 2,50€ so make sure you budget for plenty of these.

9. Eat seafood in Port de Soller | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

Port de Soller is famed for its seafood and it’s a top destination for locals to go to for a Sunday paella.

You will find restaurants lining the promenade right through Port de Soller so you will not have any problems finding somewhere to eat.

Even Repic Beach has an amazing seafood restaurant where you can pull up a chair for lunch.

For some of the restaurants with the best views across the Port, I would recommend heading to the Carrer Santa Catalina d’Alexandria in the Port.

If you are planning to go for a Sunday paella, then I would recommend booking early as you’ll find many restaurants packed out with locals during this time.

10. Watching the Sunset in Port de Soller | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

The best place to watch the sunset in Port de Soller during the Summer months is about midway from the promenade or down at Repic Beach.

Alternatively, I would recommend hiking to Es Cap Gros to the lighthouse and refugio hostal and watching the sunset from there if it isn’t too hot.

Watching the sunset in Port de Soller makes the perfect end to the day. If you’re visiting the area, then enjoy the sunset before heading out for dinner.

The sunset here is well worth experiencing.

11. Hiking To Es Cap Gros, Port de Soller | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

The hike to Es Cap Gros in Port de Soller is one of the easiest hikes in the area since it follows the road leading up from Repic Beach.

I normally do not recommend hiking in the rain in Mallorca, but even on a rare rainy day, this hike is worth making, and since it follows the road, it is safer than going off-road.

The views you get from here are just spectacular.

12. Hike to Jumeirah Port de Soller Hotel | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

In March 2023, after my Youtube live stream which you can see here, I ventured up the hill from the Port towards the Jumeirah Port de Soller hotel and found the views from here to be just breathtaking.

There is also a great restaurant just below this hotel – the Nautilus restaurant – which is worth the hike for the great views.

I spotted a path running down behind the Jumeirah Port de Soller hotel and I’ll make this hike in the future to check out the route and views. Alternatively, do check it out for yourself!

13. Book a hike in Port de Soller | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

You will see various cabins around the Tram station in the port and further down the promenade offering guided hikes in the Trumuntana mountains.

The Traumuntana mountains are quite extensive so if you are visiting for a limited time and want to know where to walk, then it may be worth booking one of these walks.

The best time for hiking in Port de Soller is from October to June cool temperatures permitting. Even better, visit in winter!

14. Visit the Museu del Mar Museum, Port de Soller | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

A hidden find in Port de Soller is the Museu del Mar Museum, which is located along the port and up the hill where you will also get to enjoy some lovely views.

Documenting Port de Soller’s fascinating maritime heritage, a visit to this museum is a fun thing to do in Port de Soller for visitors.

You can find out more on the official website here.

15. Events in Port de Soller | Things to do in Port de Soller Mallorca

Look out for events happening in Port de Soller if you are visiting during the Summer season, as there is usually something fun happening every month.

These events are a great way to connect with the local community and traditions held in Port de Soller.

A few festivals of note include the Orange Fair held in 2023 on the 21 April to the 7 May where you will find many restaurants offering “orange” or tasting menus to showcase their cooking. This is often a great (and cheaper) way to try the local cuisine.

From the 11 to the 15 May, you will find the Fira including the Moors and Christians’ battle with events taking place right throughout the Soller Valley and down to the Port.

On the night of the 23 June, head down to celebrate Sant Joan (St Juan) with fires, beach picnics BBQs held on the beaches. Join the tradition and jump over the fire and run into the sea at midnight.

Word of warning travelling with small children – the beaches can get very busy and it will be dark, so keep an extra eye out for your child.

28 June will see the Port celebrate the Saint Peter festivities (the patron Saint of Fishermen), with events held right through the port, so be sure to look out for those.

September is a celebration month for the Fira de La Mar in Port of Soller so expect live music and other fun events to be held during this time.
