If you’re planning a holiday to Palmanova in Majorca, then find out the top 10 things to do in Palmanova for kids to make your Summer holiday great!

Palmanova is a perfect destination for families and offers the very best in traditional Summer holiday fun. With great beaches and fantastic restaurants, a holiday in this resort is about keeping things simple and enjoying the ultimate Summer break.

1. Palmanova Beaches, Majorca

If you are looking for things to do in Palmanova for kids, then the main activity here are the three free fantastic beaches tailormade for the perfect family holiday.

In fact, do not feel pressured to book activities and excursions when the hotel pool and the beaches are the perfect recipe for your family holiday, especially if you need a break.

The sea is clear and shallow and lifeguarded from May to October on all three beaches making this perfect for children.

And the sand is fine, which is great for sandcastle building.

Smoking is now banned on Porto Novo (Es Carregador) beach so this is the perfect option for families who do not wish to be surrounded by smokers.

What’s more, you can purchase everything you need for the beach throughout Palmanova resort from buckets and spades (approximate cost is 6,95€), and lilos from 6€ to 15€.

2. Kids FREE Playgrounds in Palmanova

There are plenty of kids’ playgrounds throughout the resort to keep any little kid happy visiting Palmanova on holiday.

The main playgrounds are on the East side of Portonovo beach. There is a great pirate ship play park, and a slide that goes to the beach.

Also, you will find a fantastic climbing frame too.

Kids often come down to this area for picnics and to celebrate birthday parties as there is plenty of room on the sand here.

There is a play park on the West Side of Palmanova beach, and a climbing frame outside Mcdonald’s restaurant on the East side.

There is also another play park in front of Gelicious and next to Munroe’s bar.

Over on Son Matias beach, there is a kid’s playpark mid-way along the beach, just set back from the main promenade.

3. Watersports Rentals on Palmanova Beach

On each of the three beaches, it is possible to rent water sports equipment.

Pedalos and Stand Up Paddleboards are available for hire by the hour.

The cost of renting a stand-up paddle board for one hour is 9€ and the cost of a pedalo rental is €15 (Summer 2022 prices)

On the west side of Palmanova Beach and from the pier on Son Matias beach, you can also book banana boat rides and parasailing.

These activities are available for children from 6 years old and above, and if you are in a big enough party, you can rent the entire banana boat for yourself.

I’ve been told too that they will balance the weight of the banana boat so little kids won’t be placed among an adult group.

The rides go right out into Palmanova bay, out towards Portnovo beach and back, or in the direction of Magaluf.

4. Crazy Golf in Palmanova

If you’re looking for some great fun with all the family, visit Golf Fantasia behind Portonovo beach in Palmanova.

Open from 11am to 11pm, tickets start from 8,50€ for kids and 13,50€ for an adult for 18-holes.

Set in a tropical setting with waterfalls, this is a cool place to come to escape the heat.

There is a bar and cafe here and chicken nuggets and chips or a burger costs 6,50€.

An even cheaper option is mini-golf at the Hotel Tropico.

The entrance fee is just 5€ for an adult and 3€ for kids, and there is a bar there too.

5. Bike rental in Palmanova

The best way to explore the area is by renting a bike in Palmanova.

And there are so many different types of bikes available to rent in Palmanova at Pepe bike rental which is located down a side street near the Olive Tree restaurant on Son Matias beach.

It’s possible to rent Safari bikes which are ideal for families, as well as trikes or actual bikes.

Palmanova has a fantastic promenade which allows you to cycle behind the three beaches.

If you are looking for a bigger bike adventure for older kids, there is a cycle path from Palmanova, and which runs to Portals and towards Palma.

If you are cycling with little kids, my recommendation is to cycle to an ice cream stop.

Our favourite is the Soft Ice Cream Boutique on the East side of Son Matias beach which serves Mr Whippy-style ice creams and 99 cones, with optional sprinkles.

Gelicious is another favourite, famous for its “black ice cream“, behind Palmanova beach and of course there are various other ice cream shops behind Portonovo beach (TuttiFrutti) and a frozen yoghurt shop near Il Chringo.

6. Scuba Diving & Snorkelling in Palmanova

Palmanova is a great place to try scuba diving for the first time.

From Son Matias beach, head on over to Big Blue Diving and check out their snorkelling day trips and first-time divers experience.

Kids can join the “Bubble Maker” programme which will allow them to experience scuba diving for the first time, from the little beach just off the jetty.

This beginner’s dive experience costs 69€ for one dive, with all equipment and one instructor who will stay with your child throughout the whole experience.

7. Britannia Boat Trip, Palmanova

Probably the most popular boat trip in Palmanova is getting a ticket aboard the Britannia Jet boat.

The boat picks up passengers from the Palmanova and Son Matias piers at 11:15, 13:15 and 15:15.

You can buy the tickets aboard for 25€ for adults and 15€ for children.

This two-hour cruise runs every day during the summer season and is a great way to get out of the resort and explore the coves and coastline in Mallorca.

There will be a swim stop to and an opportunity to swim in turquoise blue waters so don’t forget your swimwear and towel!

8. Palmanova Beach Picnic

Beach picnics on Palmanova beach shouldn’t just be reserved for the daytime only.

So if you’re spending the day by the swimming pool, then you may wish to treat your kids to an evening beach picnic.

I promise that they will absolutely love this experience as the beach empties and the sun begins to go down.

Many locals tend to go to the beach at this time, because not only are the sunbeds free after around 7pm (when the rental guy goes home), but it’s a great experience that should be done at least once while you are on holiday.

Just keep an eye on your kids if they are swimming in the sea as the lifeguards go off duty at about 6pm.

9. Palmanova Fairground Rides

During the summer months, there are mini fairground rides for little kids behind Palmanova beach nearby Munroes and Gelicious on Calle Duc De L’Extremera.

With bouncy trampolines, a merry-go-round and a soft play park, little kids will love to head out for some early evening fun.

10. Palmanova Night Market

Behind Palmanova beach, you will also find a Night Market which is a great spot for kids to spend some of their holiday pocket money.

There are various market stalls selling handmade jewellery and other souvenirs.

There is always the chance too to get your hair braided too

Some nights you will also find buskers and entertainers too.
