From Alcudia Strip, join me both here and on Alcudia Beach where we will take a look at what this popular summer resort is like in Winter, on the run-up to Christmas. I’ll show you what’s open, and what major refurbishment is being made to the area. We’ll then head to Alcudia Beach to get an update on the things to do in the Alcudia area over Christmas. So I have to say that Alcudia Strip has to be one of the saddest places to see

over here in Mallorca over the winter. Now of all the places that I have been

so far there's always quite a few places open like for example down in Alcudia

Port over in Porta Poienza, down in Palma Nova and of course Palma is really

bustling at the moment. Even the little town of Soller has places open but my

goodness me that's quiet over here we're going to take a quick look at the top end of the strip where we're going to see a little bit more action over here

I'm going to show you what's taking place and then I'm going to drive down towards the beach and I'm going to give you a winter update from there. So I'm

right outside of Legends here many of you will know it it's right at the top

end of Alcudia Strip but I'm just passing the one place that is open

during the week at least on the top side of Alcudia Strip and I'm outside the

Harra restaurant here. There's a sign up on the door here which actually says

that Sundays they are closed but on the 23rd of December to the 8th of January

they're going on holiday. Now the lady you can just see walking off here

actually she just came up to the door of this bar she said a big Spanish swear

word as well she was hoping to get something to eat and drink here but she's just seen it's closed because I am filming this on a Sunday and what a shame

oh my goodness I mean even Burger King is closed too everything is closed down

here every single restaurant down here it's all closed up and it's all boarded

up except for and I'm delighted to see that the Colbert supermarket is still

open. Now for everyone living over here around Alcudia Strip at least there is

somewhere to go shopping that isn't little and to see that this is actually

open on a Sunday is incredible. So Colbert is open and they do even sell

takeaway food here in the supermarket. Now the reason for my trip down to

Alcudia Strip is regarding some very major renovations which are taking place

down here which you've probably seen on social media. I'm just coming past

Champions which you can see is closed up I'm just coming up to the site of what

is going to be the new Luna's Grill and you can see that work is taking place

here to completely renovate this site you can see the walls are starting to go

up on the property as well. Now I have spoken to the owner and he's hoping that

this will be open in March. Of course I'll be coming down here to see it when

it is open. I'm in touch with him we're going to get a complete update but this

is just an artist's impression of how it's going to look and this is going to

be a fantastic inclusion to this area of Alcudia. Now for those of you in the

construction industry I'm just putting the camera over the fence here so you can take a good look at what is going up over here at Luna's Grill site. It's

incredible to think that this is going to be a real highlight here on Alcudia

Strip next summer but it's really much needed on this part of the resort as

well to have somewhere really amazing to come and eat out. So it is really sad

to see this part of Alcudia just looking so dead especially after I've just

Alcudia is lined wall to wall with hotels it really has been created as a

purpose-built resort for the tourism for holiday makers for package holiday makers coming over on the hot summer months and over the winter well you can

see there's absolutely nothing here so let's jump in the car I'm going to put

my camera out the back window on the selfie stick and you're going to see just how empty it is as we head on down to the beach but I'm going to give you a

winter update if you're coming to this area of the island in the coming months

So as you can see coming down the strip the only places that are open over there

is the Colbert supermarket and the Harrah bar during the week. Now coming

straight ahead here from Avenida Pere Massa e Reus brings us out onto Alcudia

Beach and well I couldn't leave the area without coming to take a look at this amazing beach and also giving you an update as well if you do happen to be

coming over to Alcudia whether you're visiting a family or friends or you have a second home over here you're coming over here over the Christmas period

So if you've seen my live stream from over in Alcudia Old Town you may well

have heard me mention the fiestas that are taking place throughout the island

the first week of December moving on into the second week as well. Now you may

also be mistaken in thinking that all the Christmas entertainment and that

Christmas activities are only happening over in Parma but they're not because

there's lots happening all over the island and and the whole Alcudia area

included except for Alcudia Strip but that's going to remain dead until the

springtime until probably a couple of weeks before Easter in March. However over

in Alcudia Old Town if you are over here visiting well their Christmas lights

switch-on is going to take place on the 15th of December. It's quite late really

in the day considering that the Parma Christmas lights switch-on happens on the 23rd of November but they're getting there and you're going to see Christmas

lights switch-ons are happening all over the island too. Also happening as well

down Alcudia Portway the the market is going to take place in Alcudia Port on

the 8th and the 9th of December. You're going to find a Christmas market taking

place as well on the 15th and the 16th of December as well in Alcudia Old Town

and that's going to be in the entrance way as well normally where you see the

market which takes place on the Sunday over there in the Old Town. You're going

to find the same as well happening around Porta Puglienza too. You're going to have

some really nice activities happening over the Christmas period so while of

course I really do recommend going to Parma and seeing the Christmas lights make sure you come out to these smaller towns and villages because you're

going to be in for a treat too and it's going to be so much more of a local experience and a tailored local experience to anything that you're going

to see over the summer months. But that's not all either because on the 22nd and

the 23rd over in Alcudia Old Town Father Christmas is going to be in residence as

well so if you are coming over with small children make sure you pop it over and see him. There'll be the Spanish version of Santa as well so that'll be

all really good fun too and definitely worth going to check out. Now over the

Christmas season as well I do believe that there's some celebrations taking

place for what we would call Boxing Day on the 26th of December. It's St. Stephen's

Day over here. I do believe that there is some kind of little mini marathon

going on in the area as well. It may be worth checking out but most importantly

if you are coming over this way for New Year's Eve then Parma isn't the only

place where you can go and see in the new year. If you head on over to Alcudia

Old Town to the area around the marketplace they're going to be having a

little celebration at about quarter to midnight as well. Make sure you take your

12 grapes and take something to drink as well and there'll be a small concert as

well to see in the new year which will be a really really fantastic thing to do
