So in this video we're going to take a look at the top 10 things that you can
0:04
do if you're visiting Alcudia on holiday. so coming up in this video I'm going to show you the main attractions up here in Alcudia
0:32
I'm going to show you as well the best activities that you can do if you want to get sporty while on holiday
0:38
We're also going to take a look at some history and culture that you can find up here in Alcudia
0:43
and we're going to explore a lesser known coastal area too. So let's start on Alcudia Beach where you can enjoy boat tours with pick-up points from Alcudia Port
0:52
and all along Alcudia Beach Resort, making this a fantastic way to explore the coastline
0:58
But if you want to get even more active on holiday in Alcudia this summer then
1:04
you're going to find these water sports centres dotted all the way across Alcudia
1:08
Beach and all the way down to Playa del Muro. Now from here you can rent
1:12
windsurfing equipment, you can rent kayaks and you can also rent little
1:16
catamarans as well to take out on the water. If you do need lessons as well
1:20
these are provided especially if you want to trial this new sport as well
1:25
wing foil and I'm in the water sports center which is nearest to Alcudia port
1:32
and you can also rent pedal o's for around 20 euros per hour but in my
1:39
opinion the best thing that you can do for free on Alcudia Beach is to take the
1:43
bus to can pick a fall and walk some or all of the 12 kilometers back along the
1:48
beach to Alcudia port which is where we are heading now so I'm down here in
1:53
in Alcudia port where you are going to find just the most fantastic array of boat trips down here
1:59
Now last summer we went on the dolphin watching boat trip, it was the sea explorer tour
2:04
but for now let's wind the clock back and go and check out what this boat trip was like
2:16
This three-hour boat trip departs from Alcudia port where you'll head out into the bay by speedboat
2:23
to see dolphins in their natural habitat. The boat then goes on to possibly Mallorca's quietest beach
2:41
during peak season, Esquibaish, where you'll explore the amazing cave formations, see the goats on the beach
2:48
and have the opportunity to swim in the most turquoise waters before heading back to Alcudia port
2:56
So I've done a few dolphin trips on the island, but the Sea Explorer has to be one of the absolute best
3:02
just because the boats are so small and you get really really close to the dolphins as well So that the reason I particularly love this one Don forget if you do want to go ahead and book it you can do so on my website and I put a link to that trip in the description text below this video
3:17
so if you're visiting over the hot summer months and you're walking down in Alcudia port in the
3:27
evening then you're going to find a really lovely summer market and at the far end of the port
3:33
take a walk to the wooden lookout point to watch the sunset over Alcudia Beach
3:39
But it's not just all about the water sports over here in Alcudia
3:43
because don't forget that Alcudia is also home to some of the best attractions here in Mallorca
3:49
Now, you're going to find Hydro Park, which is a fantastic water park situated just further into Alcudia Beach Resort, next to the Hotel Club Mac
3:58
They've got some fantastic slides there as well. and also don't forget as well that we have the rather wonderful Rancho Says Rockes we went on
4:06
the horse riding excursion back in April go and check out that video which I'll link below as well
4:11
it's a fantastic horse riding centre and once again really good fun for all the family now don't
4:16
forget I do have an article all about things to do in Alcudia on my website and I'll include
4:22
links to all of these excursions that I mentioned too so you have the opportunity to book them on
4:26
that website linked to. So if you are visiting Alcudia then you're going to be absolutely
4:36
spoilt for choice for sightseeing up here because you're going to be within just a short distance
4:41
of Alcudia Old Town. Now Alcudia Old Town is a must-see if you're coming over here on holiday
4:47
It's an absolutely beautiful old town here in Mallorca and this is set within the old city
4:54
walls too so it's just a joy to walk around it's a joy to explore so make sure you come over and
5:00
visit. Now I am on the edge of Alcudia Old Town I'm just in the location of where you'll find a
5:06
twice weekly market which is held on the Tuesday and on the Sunday too from around 8.30 in the
5:11
morning on to about 1.30 in the afternoon. Now this market can get very very busy and Alcudia
5:18
Old Town can get very very busy during those days so if you don't want to get caught up in the
5:23
bustle of the crowds and you do not want to get caught up in that market then do come on any other
5:27
day you'll get a much more pleasant experience but let's take a look inside Alcudia Old Town
5:32
and see what you can expect if you're coming over here. So as we come through the main square here where you'll find the market we're just coming onto the
5:48
main shopping street and it's already very very busy and I'm filming this on a Friday morning
5:52
So Alcuzia Old Town is a great place to come and pick up some traditional Spanish shoes
5:59
and baskets and bags and hats too and even items as well
6:05
This is a traditional fabric here from Mallorca. You can see little tote bags have been made
6:10
You can pick them up for just €10. As well there some really really pretty ceramic products So you can see from here we come into Palatza Constituci which is the centre here of Alcudia Old Town
6:25
and you're going to find lots of little restaurants here and ice cream shops as well
6:29
You can pick up a snack, you can pick up a drink, you can pick up a bite to eat too
6:34
So we're going to get out of the main square here in the centre of Alcudia Old Town
6:38
and I'm going to show you a couple of must-see sites that you must check out while you're here visiting for the day
6:51
Now, I have been saying this in most of my videos, but you have to get off the main drag if you're visiting any of these really touristy areas
6:58
to really get a feel for the place. And I've just literally come down a couple of side streets
7:02
We're walking through the other side of Alcudia, Old Town, and you can just see how lovely and peaceful it is here
7:08
So in spite of there being lots of tourists here over the summer months, you can still get a really, really positive and peaceful experience in somewhere as busy as Alcudia Old Town
7:20
So as we get to the edge of Alcudia Old Town, you can see there's a lovely church here
7:24
If you are visiting, you may well be lucky and see that it's open. But let's go and have a quick look inside
7:31
Now tickets here are just one euro to enter the church and there's also a museum
7:36
So let's take a very, very quick look inside. so
7:51
so I've just come out of the church and that has to be the best
8:07
one euro I have spent in terms of sightseeing here in Mallorca. Now that ticket includes a look
8:14
around the museum as well as you've just seen and also a look up as well, a look up the stairs as
8:19
well and you can get the whole view of the church too. So even if you are not religious it's definitely
8:25
worth it while coming to check out to come and check out some of the history and culture here
8:30
in Alcudia as well and if you're visiting during July and August then I can pretty much guarantee
8:35
that this is going to be a great escape from the summer heat. Now as you can see Alcudia is packed
8:42
with history. You've also got the Roman influence here so we've got some old Roman ruins. If you are
8:48
sightseeing around Alcudia I definitely recommend coming to check these out. They're just right on
8:53
the edge of Alcudia Old Town. Now as well as exploring the marketplace and the shops and bars
8:59
and restaurants and the other historical sites that we do have here in our Alcudia Old Town
9:05
Don't forget too that you can also walk along the perimeter of the Old Town walls
9:10
You can find this little staircase leading up just a little bit further along from one of the
9:14
main entrances. Now you're going to get a very alternative view of Alcudia Old Town from up on
9:20
these Old Town walls You can see right across the centre of the Old Town and also down the coast too out towards Porto Poyenta Now from Alcudia Old Town this leads me on to my next great thing to do if you are visiting
9:37
Alcudia and that's to rent a bicycle from one of the many hire shops over here in Alcudia. Now
9:43
there is a fantastic bike path running from Alcudia Old Town all the way down to Porto
9:48
I really recommend doing this trip because not only will you stay off the main road with your
9:55
bike as well but there are lots of fantastic stop-offs there are picnic areas too you can
9:59
enjoy a picnic and of course when you get to Porta Poyense you can then enjoy the beach
10:03
and the many restaurants too so this makes a really really fantastic thing to do if you are
10:09
visiting the Alcudia area. So from Alcudia Old Town I'm going to jump back into my car now and
10:15
I'm going to show you another great place that you can visit right up here in Alcudia if you're
10:20
visiting here for a holiday. Now if you want a completely different experience while you're
10:30
visiting the Alcudia area then I do recommend coming along to Alcanada which is about a four
10:36
to five minute drive from Alcudia Old Town. Alternatively you can get the A323 TIB bus as
10:44
well from the centre of Alcudia. Now Alcunada is very very different from Alcudia Beach Resort
10:49
you of course don't get the big huge long swathe of beach over here, it is a very rocky coastline
10:55
but it's also very nice for maybe walking and you can also make a small excursion along the coast
11:00
here and you're going to find some fantastic places to stop off and have a swim to. I do recommend
11:06
picking up some plastic shoes or some rubber shoes from the tourist shop because you can see
11:11
it's very very rocky over here but also bring your snorkel gear here because during the summer months
11:16
this is going to be a fantastic place to go snorkeling over here in Mallorca. Now I have
11:22
actually heard that you can walk out to the lighthouse from the very very furthest coastal
11:26
point nearest to the lighthouse and maybe one day I'll make that trip so don't forget to hit
11:31
that subscribe button if you haven't done so already so you can catch that video at some point
11:35
in the future. and for somewhere off the beaten track and located just outside of Alcudia Old Town
11:50
make the short drive to La Victoria where you'll find a fantastic hiking route
11:55
and a restaurant with amazing views along the coast okay so there's just so many more things that you can do if you're on holiday in Alcudia
12:03
and to find out what those are then do check out the article that I have on my website
12:08
on mallorcaunderthesun.com and I'll put a link to that article in the comments below and also
12:14
in the description text of this video. Okay everyone, thank you very much for watching

Please consider subscribing if you haven't done so already. You can find me in the Facebook group
12:23

12:28
sightseeing in this amazing area of the island then do check out the videos that are appearing
12:32
just here on YouTube and I look forward to seeing you on the next video. Goodbye for now
