Hi, welcome to my channel, Myorka Under the Sun, and I have a slightly different video for you today
0:06
Now, as you all know, I'm more used to making video guides and live streams as well to help you plan for your holiday
0:13
but I also have to support local businesses. Now, when I heard what was happening to some of the beach bars and the restaurants up here on Palais de Morrow Beach
0:23
I thought I'd just come up here and check out what is going on
0:26
So it seems that the Costa's authority for the Balearic government have redrawn the line of the beach
0:34
which means that many of the little beach bars and the restaurants out here now are not allowed to operate in the same way that they have done before
0:41
Some here with a high mate Poreo, the owner from Can Gavala, to find out what is going on
0:47
It's a very difficult time for us. Normally here we have 25 stables, 100 chairs, but this year is not possible
0:56
possible we don't stand and we are white fighting for for work we need we need
1:03
work in this site okay hi me so basically the only permission you have at the moment is to open your restaurant with very limited capacity Yes in this moment we are only inside with 10 or 12 tables but it not the same
1:18
All the people want to stay with the foods on the sand, no inside. It's not the same things
1:25
So as you can see here, it's now illegal for Can Gavala to have tables and chairs on the sand and underneath the umbrellas in front of their restaurants
1:34
However, what is allowed are the umbrellas and the sunbeds here actually on the beach itself
1:40
So I would absolutely love to talk to someone from the Costa's authority
1:43
because I am all about helping the environment. So I'd love to understand this reasoning
1:49
So what does this mean for your restaurants? Yeah, normally in full season we are 30 people workers
1:55
and now for this season I think with 8, 10 people it's ready
2:01
So you've already had to lay people off. that's just incredibly sad here
2:05
That's just really, really sad. Yes, very sad because it's not for my, for the government
2:12
He don permit the chairs and tables on the sand We don understand Okay so with only 12 tables on the inside of the restaurant and not on the sand do you think that your restaurant will survive the season this summer
2:26
It's not the same business. We reduce 90% of business, but it's not the same thing
2:36
Okay, hi, mate, can you also tell me, please, I want everyone who is visiting Moro or can pick a fort
2:42
or in fact anywhere in the area, please tell me your own. hours of business, what time are you open on what days of the week? Because I want everyone to
2:50
come up here and try and support you this summer and at least come and have a meal here. So give me the information. When are you open? No, no. We are open every day only for lunchtime
3:00
from 11, two seats. And this year we don't open in the night because with these tables
3:08
only inside, I think it's not a good idea. Only in the day. Okay, brilliant
3:15
Thank you very much. Okay everyone, so how can you help at home
3:20
Now in the description text below this video and in the comments as well you will find a link to a petition which will soon be presented to the Balearic government Now we are trying to fill this with thousands of signatures to help them readdress this new line for the beach and enable these businesses to keep operating in
3:38
the way that they have done for over, well in some cases 60 years
3:43
Also what you can do as well if you are over in the Playa de Murro area do come over and
3:49
have lunch at Can Gavala and also at Ponderosa Beach and the other restaurants over here
3:54
because they are all affected in the same way. And who knows, you know, if the Costa's authority gets their way
4:00
then you won't be seeing these restaurants again in the future. So it's really super important to come and support them
4:06
Even if you are staying in an all-inclusive hotel in the area, please come down, book a table for lunch
4:13
Okay, everyone, thanks very much for watching. Don't forget you can check out a live stream that I did a little bit further
4:18
along the coast here in Can Picker, which I'll link to at the end of this channel
