Welcome to my channel Mallorca Under the Sun and today this is my quick guide to Porta Poyenta
0:20
Now I've come up here to Porta Poyenta today to show you what it is like in late October if you're looking to book for this time next year
0:28
and also if you're looking to plan a holiday to the resort. So come on, let's go and check it out
0:34
Now, Porto Poyenza is really famous for its pine walk, but don't forget that there is a huge beach up here in the bay
0:41
where you can come down and rent deck chairs during the summer season
0:47
So, of course, Porto Poyenza is famous for its lovely marina, and you can come down here and either moor your yacht
0:54
if you are sailing around the island, or you can come and pick up a boat rental down here
1:01
And if you have neither of those, then you can of course get an excursion too
1:06
Now, as an idea, you can go on a Fomentor Bay tour, you have a tour around the Blue Caves, various family trips as well
1:14
as well as your standard boat rentals. So tons of choice if you want to explore the coastline a little further
1:21
There is also a huge tourist information office here in the centre of Porto Poyenza
1:28
If you want to find any more information out about tours or you want to pick up a map of
1:33
the area, definitely worth popping down here. Ok so it's Wednesday today so we're going to go and check out the local market which
1:42
is in the main square where the church is so let's go and see what they're selling
1:51
So the market up here in Porto Poyenza in the main town square is quite a big deal
1:59
As I said it is here every Wednesday and you can come down here and pick up locally made handicrafts
2:06
This lovely jewellery and of course as well you can pick up some really gorgeous prints of watercolours of the island
2:14
Only two euros. We can pick up some prints of paintings as well
2:18
Absolutely beautiful. but there's things for everybody down here you can come down here with the kids
2:25
and get some sweets you can pick up some snacks dried fruit as well is really
2:30
popular here on the islands so of course locally made spices as well are really
2:35
popular down here and their stalls where you can pick them up particularly if
2:39
you're making a paella at home and you want to take back some seasoning and of
2:44
course it's so hot over here in the portal poienza during the summer there
2:47
There a great market stall here and they do fantastic beach hats as well and they all really good value But there are some real bargains to be had here in the market up here in Porto Poyenza These scarves here are just two euros each
3:04
and if you're on a self-catering holiday or you just want to get some healthy fresh food then pop
3:10
up to the fresh food stores too on the market. So at this time of year it's a really good time to
3:18
buy your own fresh olives and they're three euros a kilo here or you can pick up some locally grown
3:24
chilies. Other local produce includes these amazing looking mushrooms here also as well
3:32
as locally grown figs from Poyenza. Now this is just an essential purchase if you're out here during July and August get yourself a fan
3:50
it's the best form of air conditioning on the island on a particularly hot day and they also
3:56
do slightly cheaper fans further along in the market for just three euros each and of course
4:03
you want to buy some of the local cheeses, hams or sausages. There are various food vans here too
4:09
and you can come and pick up your jamon serrano and your fouet and your local cheeses too. All
4:16
looks really good it's all really fresh down here. So everything on this stall has been made and
4:23
painted by hand which is fantastic. I mean it's really brilliant to support the local artists
4:30
here down in Porto Poyenza on this particular market stall and you can find this normally
4:35
right in the centre of the market right in front of the church. Okay so the market starts setting up here on a Wednesday morning from about 8.30
4:47
9 o'clock but you have to be quick because things start closing down from about 1.30 to 2 o'clock
4:53
but you do have all morning to look around and it's fantastic to see that it's so busy out here
4:58
okay so if you are looking for accommodation here in Poyenza there are so many modern hotels and
5:04
really traditional historical hotels that can come and stay in but something that is completely
5:09
unique to this resort is that many of the swimming pools here which belong to the hotels
5:15
are actually just across the walkway and they are right by the water as well so you can see here the
5:22
the diner hotel swimming pool right opposite the hotel and it has its own private swimming pool
5:27
area and it's just beautiful. And because Porta Poyenta is a family resort there's a fantastic beachside
5:38
playground here which is ideal for little kids. And also hotels like the Hotel Miramar which has such a huge reputation here in Mallorca has been around for absolutely decades but once again just like the previous
5:59
hotel you can see that it has its own swimming pool area right in front, on the
6:06
beach as well and on the walkway. So there is so much choice of restaurants to eat in down here in Porto Boyenza
6:19
I mean, even the main hotels have a cafe as well. And I think today I'm going to go and check out the hotel Miramar Cafe
6:28
Now they've got a great bar menu and you can even pop in here as well and get tea and cake for €5 in the afternoon if you want to
6:35
So let's go and check out the menu here. I ordered a Spanish tortilla baguette for €7.50 and that included chips
6:45
So just while I'm waiting for lunch to arrive I've just popped into the Hotel Miramar and I've
6:51
been told that this hotel has been around since 1912 and you can see some of their original
6:57
photos on their Facebook page but I mean this is just a great piece of history here in Portoboyenza
7:07
Now I have been told by members of my Facebook group that if you are looking for some really good restaurants as well
7:19
and some alternative places to eat from the seafront to actually look at the streets behind the Pine Walk
7:26
because there are some real gems down here. Now I'll get back here during 2022 and check some of these restaurants out
7:34
but if you are here in the meantime definitely worth exploring for yourselves
7:47
So it's not just up at the main beach where you can come and rent some beds
7:51
you also have some bed rentals down here in the heart of the resort too and just off the pine walk
7:56
So when you get to this area on the walk through the promenade in Porta Boyenza, this for me is the
8:05
official start of the Pine Walk and it's kind of the area just just around where the ice cream shop
8:11
is which just does absolutely fantastic ice creams. So just keep walking along here and this takes
8:17
you all the way around and there are lots of little restaurants here too but again you can
8:22
enjoy a seafood lunch or you can pop to the beach as well
8:33
Okay so this is just one example of a restaurant that is part, well it looks
8:39
like it's part of somebody's house. And this is La Balda del Mar and they do all sorts of Spanish food They got tapas and tortilla as well as meat and fish dishes too But all along the Pine Walk here in Porto Poyenza you have these restaurants that are right on the beach or right on the water
9:00
So if you want to eat and get a sea view it's really, really easy to get yourself a table
9:05
So the Pine Walk is really unique to Porta Puyensa
9:16
I mean in the summer months you can see there are the beaches are lined with sunbeds and
9:25
umbrellas and restaurants and little accommodations all the way down through here
9:35
and you can understand why this resort has been so popular over the years and
9:45
why people come back here time and time again so this pine walk is just lovely at any time of day and people come out here for
10:02
morning walks or evening or an evening run as well or just to walk off the
10:07
excesses of dinner but it has such a fantastic atmosphere down here on the
10:13
islands and it's so relaxed and calm it just is the perfect location for anybody
10:19
looking for a really picturesque relaxing holiday Okay, so thank you very much for joining me on my mini guide to Porta Poyenza today
10:40

10:45
want to say a very special hello to you and it has been wonderful to meet you here on holiday
10:51
Okay, so as you know, there's so much more to do in and around Porta Poyenza
10:57
There are some Roman ruins which is called Paulentia, just a little bit further down by Alcudia
11:04
And also don't forget there's a trip up to Cap de Formentor to go and check out the wonderful
11:09
views across the north of the coast. You also have the old town of Alcudia to visit and don't forget that Palma is just an hour's
11:18
bus ride away too. And not forgetting to mention the town of Poyenza
