Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel Mallorca Under the Sun. So I'm up here at the Caves of Ham
0:15
or the Ham Caves. Now as many of you know there are two different cave formations which you can
0:21
go along and visit, the Drack Caves and the Ham's Caves. Now the Drack Caves you really do need to
0:26
well in advance, at least 48 hours in advance, but the Hams Caves have a little bit more
0:31
availability and we got our tickets just one hour before we came here. Okay so let's head
0:37
on inside and let's go and check out what these cave formations are like
0:56
We're heading down first to the Blue Caves
1:15
Okay, so I've just been given these little handsets, which will give us an audio explanation
1:21
of what we're about to see. And before we actually go into the caves they going to show us a short film So we come right into the caves and you can see that they illuminated the stalactites and the stalagmites with the blue light Just take a look at the roof
1:48
Okay so now we're going to go and check out the main cave. After going to see the blue cave we're
1:54
We're gonna head towards the main cave. I mean it's really spectacular. These caves were discovered in 1905
2:13
Welcome to Prince Caves. This hall is called the 2nd of March. So pretty
2:17
To commemorate the date of discovery in 1905. Thank you
2:54
Now we going right the way down to the caves even further below So the steps coming down here are really steep
3:10
But when we get here it's really beautiful again and you can see the the water, the
3:16
lakes right at the bottom here. And as my daughters just said to me, if you stand back you can really see it all
3:35
So basically we're at sea level here and you can see the water which actually stretches all
3:40
the way around to the left of these stalactites and these rock formations
3:46
Apparently this cave is called the Ferry Cemetery
4:12
I'll leave you to figure out why. And we back out again You can come and pick up some souvenirs I got a little souvenir shop but we back up on there back up on ground level
4:41
Okay so it's quite nice to get back up onto ground level again. Is that tall
4:47
worth it? Yes it is, I mean it's really beautiful down there and you might if you
4:52
do get claustrophobic or you have problems with claustrophobia and then maybe I don't recommend it
4:56
It's also very humid as well but apart from that I mean it's a wonderful tourist attraction over
5:01
here on the east side of the island. Okay so there's loads of choice of things to eat up here
5:07
and actually we had a pizza which was €4.25 and that's actually really delicious so definitely
5:14
worth getting a bite to eat because you'll need it when you come up from the caves it's actually quite tiring. And you can even pick up some traditional Mallorquin food. So you've got
5:23
sopas mallorquines, frito mallorquin and tumbet as well and the prices are quite reasonable
5:32
Okay so I hope you enjoyed my tour of the Ham's Caves up here in Puerto Cristo. Don't forget to
5:39
check out the website and I'll put the link in the description below this if you want to get
5:43
tickets. So thanks very much for watching, don't forget to subscribe if you haven't
5:47
done so already and I will see you on the next video. Goodbye for now
