In this video I'll show you what Spring in Cala D'Or, Mallorca (Majorca), Spain is like and what you can expect if you come and visit the area in the coming weeks and months.
Cala D'Or is just opening for the 2022 season, so join me on a mini-tour of the main areas in the resort.
Starting in Cala Egos, I check out which hotels are opening and what what the resort centre is like.
I then move onto Caló des Pou and then onto the Cala D'Or marina, taking in a hidden cove along the way.
Cala D'Or Marina was feeling busy, and I check out a couple of restaurants to give you an idea of prices.
Onto Cala D'Or, I take a quick look at the hotels by the beach, then head down to one of the prettiest beaches in Mallorca (Majorca), Cala Gran.
I also check out Cala D'Or town centre, I check out what lunchtime looks like as well as the main shopping street.
Then it´s onto Cala Esmeralda which in my opinion resembled paradise.
It was a different story in Cala Ferrera, whilel although it is beautiful, the beach area had an unwanted addition in the form of major building works.
Finally, I take you to a Cala Serena which is geographically nearby to Cala Ferrera. However, looking on Google Maps it´s around a 15-20 minute walk or a short drive.

Welcome to my channel Mallorca Under The Sun and in this video I'm down in Cala Dor
0:15
Now I'm down in Cala Dor to help give you an idea of what you can expect if you're coming over on holiday during the spring
0:23
And I'm starting my tour here down in Calaegos which is a beautiful little
0:28
cala and you can see the color of the water behind me. Now Calaegos is just a
0:34
couple of kilometers from the center of Calador but this is a great place to
0:39
stay and you can see this we're surrounded by several hotels here and
0:43
this beautiful little beach and already you can see people swimming and this is
0:48
only April. So Calador is just waking up from the winter season here and I'm outside the
0:55
Alua Sol Hotel which neighbours Calaegos. Now as you can see it's not quite open yet and they are
1:02
actually still preparing the swimming pool and getting the whole hotel ready for the season
1:09
And just on the other side of Calaegos Beach you can see the Prima Sol Calador Garden Hotel too
1:17
Now I can hear lots of drilling from there too so I'm guessing this is in the process of opening up too
1:23
So the restaurants are slowly beginning to open up down here as well
1:27
I can see the restaurant Marta is open as is the Polynesian Bamboo
1:34
As are many of the other restaurants in this little complex here down in Calaegos
1:39
And I can see the Nevada open as well as the Western Steakhouse
1:47
Okay so our next stop today is Kalao Despau and this little beach here, this little Kala
1:55
is found on the far end of Kala Egos Resort. I mean this is looking great for April already
2:02
down here in Kala Dor. It's busy, there are loads of people on holiday here. Absolutely
2:08
fantastic. Now in this area there are plenty of hotels like the Blue Sea Club Martha's
2:15
the Taiyael and the Gaffiner Hotel too. Now coming to Calador is all about exploring the little coves and the rocky areas as well
2:29
So just along from Calaudez Pau, there's a little stairway down here right to the water
2:34
So this is a great place to come. If any of the beaches that you may be on are too crowded or busy
2:39
and it's just on the edge of the marina here. You can see the marina to my left
2:45
Just look at the colour of that water Our next stop today is Calador Marina Now this really is a lovely area to come for a walk out
3:00
on in the evening or to come down for some lunch as well. So I am seeing plenty of restaurants and
3:06
bars open down here in Calador Marina already. So just to give you an idea of prices on Calador
3:12
marina now i'm just passing by this snack bar here and you can get a hamburger for around 7 euros 50
3:20
or a baguette for 5 euro 70 and the margarita pizza is 9 euros so i can also see they do fresh
3:27
crepes too and then on the other side of the scale here next door i'm looking at the restaurant
3:34
the restaurante botavara and prices for a paella mixture which is just a basic mixed paella
3:41
It's for around €15. Now don't forget if you want to charter a boat down here to take out on your own day trip, it's perfectly possible
3:50
There are plenty of charter companies down here which can help you do that
4:00
So it's a different story over here in Cala Dor Resort itself
4:03
I can actually see their hotels open and there are kids swimming in the swimming pool so it can't be that cold out here
4:11
I can just see as well the Hotel Costa del Sur right next door is also open and it's busy
4:19
But there are lots of hotels out here in Calador itself and many of them are just a stone's throw away from the main beach
4:32
Now it's great to see that the beach restaurants are already open down here on Calagran
4:41
So as you can see it's looking absolutely amazing down here from Cala Grand Beach and the water is the most amazing colour
4:51
Now if you go back and look at my video which I made in the autumn down here in Calador you can see that the main difference is that it is a lot quieter over here during these spring months even on the run up to Easter
5:04
Now, the beach ombrellas here and the sunbeds have not yet gone onto the beach, so it's
5:10
an altogether quieter experience and it's easier to find a place on the sand
5:15
So all in all, I would say that Cala Gran and, well, any of these Calas now, this time
5:21
of year, is just the perfect time to visit before all the crowds arrive and the heat
5:26
of the summer arrives too. it's not just the beaches down here in Kellogranne that you can sit on because
5:34
there these lovely pathways all the way around the coves down here as well so if sand isn your thing you can come down here and sunbathe and swim
5:51
now once again if you go back and look at my video made last autumn you'll see what the nightlife is
5:57
actually like down here in calador but already i can see there's some restaurants opening here
6:03
this particular restaurant gets very very busy during the summer months This is Il Bodiga and they sell a great selection of tapas and wines
6:13
Now it's great to see that the main high street here with the shops in Calle Tagomago
6:19
is actually really busy and there's some shops here that have had a bit of a
6:23
facelift but if you are into your shopping then there are some great
6:27
clothes shops down here, some great brands and other beach shops and mini marts too
6:33
So I've just come a little bit further along the coast from the center of
6:37
Calador and Cala Gran to Cala Esmeralda and oh my goodness if you are visiting
6:44
in the next month or so you are in for a treat. Now it is lovely and peaceful
6:49
down here and quiet and on a sunny day it's absolutely gorgeous. Now there's
6:56
some hotels that are open here already including the Esmeralda Park Hotel
7:03
Now if you're looking for places to eat down here in Cala Esmeralda, the Cicala Beach Club
7:09
is open already and it is also quite busy. And the only sunbeds that you can rent at the moment before they put out the official
7:19
sunbeds and brollies are the ones that do belong to the beach club
7:23
But as you can see, if you do rent them you're going to get just like the most amazing view
7:27
down here. Okay so just coming down towards Cala Ferreira Beach and the first thing I notice is there
7:43
is a massive construction site right behind or right next door to the Barcelona Agua Marina
7:49
Hotel. Now if you are staying out here please double check where your hotel is located because
7:55
obviously what they have done here hasn't quite finished so this looks like it could
8:00
roll in towards the summer. So just to confirm this is the Barcelona Agua Marina Hotel which is
8:07
undergoing massive reconstruction here. You can see they're redoing the entire front of the hotel
8:14
as well. So while Cala Ferreira Beach is completely empty if you are thinking of coming down here
8:21
in the next few weeks or months just be warned that construction work could be taking place
8:30
Thank you Now as you can see the beach is not lifeguarded down here and just like all the other beaches
8:46
the sunbeds and the beach umbrellas are not up either. now you will find some seaweed down here on Calaferrera beach but that's absolutely fine
9:00
it's perfectly healthy stuff but normally during the summer months the council will come and clear
9:06
little way. So the last beach I'm bringing you out to here is Cala Serena. Now this isn't
9:27
really readily accessible if you do have a hire car and you can come around here
9:33
and park but it's a tiny little Calla and it's so pretty. During the summer
9:39
months you'll find this little beach to be really packed and really busy so the
9:44
best time to visit Calla Serena will be in the springtime months now
9:50
Okay so thank you for joining me on my mini tour of Calla d'Or. Now I hope it's
9:56
given you a little insight as to what you can expect if you're coming over here
10:00
in the spring. Now in regards to things to do, normally the best way of getting
10:05
around Calador is using a little tourist train or the mini Trenet but this
10:10
actually doesn't come into operation until the 1st of May and it runs right
10:14
through to September so it is useful and I probably would advise getting a
10:19
hire car down here so you can go around these little callas and explore them for
10:24
yourself. So in addition as well you may remember last summer we did the dolphin
10:28
cruise as well where we took out the catamaran to go and see the dolphins out
10:33
in the water here now that is a fantastic excursion to go on and I'll
10:37
link to that video right at the end of this video now that starts up on the 15th
10:42
of April so you can start to already book tickets for that now okay everyone
10:49
