Here is a quick roundup of all the news you need to know for your Mallorca holiday in this Mallorca Weekly News update on 9 May 2022.

When travel restrictions could end in Mallorca

Announced on 1 May in the BOE (Official State Bulletin), Covid restrictions will remain in place for a further 2 weeks.

This means that unvaccinated travellers from the UK and other third countries still cannot travel to Spain unless they have a recovery certificate or meet other conditions which are outlined on the travelsafe.spain.info website.

Please also check out my article here all the latest UK and “Third Country” (eg. USA) travel restrictions which explains who can and who cannot travel.

This article also includes all the relevant links you need to the official government websites.

The retrictions for third countries are all set to change very soon and we are awaiting an announcement on around the 15 May 2022 that Spain will finally throw its doors open to unrestricted tourism this summer.

So make sure you subscribe to my Youtube channel to get the information when it breaks.

Airlines are already less strict in making checks coming out of the UK, and only spot check seem to be made coming into Spain as you can see this in a recent video when I flew into Mallorca.

So we look forward to and fully expect an anoucement soon to hear covid restrictions coming to a crashing end.

However if you are unvaccinated and hoping to travel from a third country to Mallorca, please do not book your holiday until we hear confirmation that restrictions have been lifted.

Supporting Mallorca Beach Bars

Beach bars and beach restaurants are undergoing very challenging times at the moment, particularly up in Playa de Muro and on other areas around the island.

Now these beach restaurants are the best places to enjoy a Sunday paella so please also show your support, even if you are staying in an all-inclusive and go and enjoy a meal while you still can.

The beach bars in Playa de Muro are having a particularly difficult time. You can see more in this video here or this article.

UK Passport News

There have been reports coming out of the UK with regards to delays in UK Passport renewals.

I have written an article all about the issue of renewing a UK passport here and you can see the video here .

Included in both is all the information you need to know about renewing your passport, what the rules are, the current waiting times and what to do if you are denied boarding.

UK passport renewals

In summary, before you book your holiday check:

The Issue Date must be under 10 years on the day of entry to Spain.

The Expiry Date must show at least 3 months on the day of intended departure from Spain.
